These guys are really gorgeous. I find them graceful in every
aspect of their being. But because they are so small, slow-growing,
and slow-moving, there really isn't much to say about them. They are
somewhat mysterious:
- I don't know where they came from
- I don't know what their eggs look like
- I don't know what they are
- I never see them mate
I first saw these guys in Travis's Aquababies tank. There's no
possibility that they could've been transferred to my tank when we
moved the baby ramshorns. Not that I can think of at least. I guess

of a pencil eraser, maybe smaller |
they must've just come on the plants... or something. When they're
really small, they are clear, with black veins in their shells.
They're so small, I can't really describe them beyond that. When they
FINALLY get larger, their shells fill in to be a lovely slate-blue
with minute white/clear spots. These pictures do not do them
justice.
Their antennae are very long, and
their shell is shaped roundish-turban-like. Their bodies are small in
comparison to their shells, and are kind of greyish blue. As
mentioned before, they move very slowly. I think they tend to stay in
the floating plants because I don't really see them all that much on
the glass or on the gravel. So far I have only seen one of these
mature into the size pictured here. The rest are all still clear.
Stats:
- Size: pencil eraser, at biggest.
- Color: clear, with black veins (juvenile); slate-blue with white spots;
- Shell: fat, turban-shaped
- Body: petite, blue-grey
- Eggs: ???
